Safeguarding

Our commitment to protecting children and vulnerable people in everything we do.

Our commitment

Suguta Resilience Watch (SUREWA) works with whole communities — including children through our education programme and vulnerable people in every programme area. We are committed to ensuring that everyone who comes into contact with our work is safe from harm, abuse and exploitation.

What this means in practice

  • We do not publish identifiable photographs of children without the consent of a parent or guardian, and we never publish children's full names.
  • Community photographs are shared only with the informed consent of the people in them.
  • Volunteers and partners working with children are briefed on appropriate conduct and supervised by the committee.
  • Concerns raised by any community member are taken seriously and handled confidentially.

Reporting a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern about any SUREWA activity, staff member, volunteer or partner, report it directly and confidentially to the SUREWA committee at info@sugutaresiliencewatch.or.ke. Where a child is in immediate danger, also contact the nearest children's officer or police station.

This statement was adopted by SUREWA's committee and applies to everyone working with the organisation.
